The stereotype that women are less capable at basically anything men can accomplish is detrimental to all girls' self esteem. I have seen women refuse to engage themselves in certain activities because they feel they can not excel in them as much as their male counterparts. When I get depressed I am reminded of these stereotypes that women are weaker, less smart, more emotional, etc. To dismantle these untrue, toxic beliefs ,the school system must work harder to remind their girls how capable, intelligent, and strong they are. It also depends on home life. If a male is told at home they are superior to to a female, both will believe it, the female will not apply herself, and the cycle will continue. Therefore, parents need to start raising their girls and boys the same. - Tara
